This
should come as good news for those living in Lagos state, especially since the
hectic traffic situation has gotten worse of recent, and there is almost zero
road networking in the inner local communities.
The
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, says the government is ready to
start the reconstruction of two roads in each of the 20 local government and 37
local council development areas in the state.
He
spoke at the Lagos House, Ikeja during the monthly meeting with the Executive
Secretaries of the 57 Councils to review the progress report in their various
communities as well as their challenges.
He
said that the first phase would commence with the reconstruction of 114 roads,
two per local government, at the cost of N19billion.
He
also said the execution of the project would be left in the care of the local
governments.
Since
the governor has said the local government will be charge of the execution of
this project and it will cost BILLIONS, for God's sakes, we are on our knees,
local government people, DELIVER!!
Because
as it is right now, a lot of us are not feeling any impact of the local
government in our communities and many times i have wondered at the essence of
having a local government when it is obvious they are not being useful for
anything except to collect taxes for services not rendered.
