Muhammadu Buhari wins Nigerians Presidential Election

Ahead of his formal declaration as President elect, APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari has expressed  gratitude to Nigerians for choosing him and his party over and above the PDP and their candidate, the incumbent President, Dr Jonathan Goodluck.

The APC declared victory party after Dr Jonathan called General Buhari at 5:15pm to make a concession and congratulate the winner. Director Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Garba Shehu quoted Buhari as saying that the mood of the country as well as its current state did not warrant the type of wild celebrations reportedly going on in some cities across the country.

Buhari said anybody happy with the victory of the APC in the presidential election will not be involved in the molestation of opponents or the destruction of their property.

“He or she is not with me, whoever does that,” Buhari curtly said. He is due to make a major acceptance speech in the coming hours.

Nigeria election: First results expected

Nigeria's election body says it expects to announce the first results of Saturday's keenly contested presidential poll on Tuesday.

Incumbent Goodluck Jonathan is facing a strong challenge from former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari.

The UN has praised the poll despite technical hitches, protests and violence linked to Boko Haram.

Voting spilled into a second day in some parts of Nigeria after problems with new electronic card readers.

President Jonathan was among those whose registration to vote was delayed by the technology, which was introduced to prevent fraud

His Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which had opposed the card readers, called it a "huge national embarrassment".

Election commission chief Attahiru Jega said only a fraction of the 150,000 card readers being used nationwide had failed.

The presidential and parliamentary elections had been delayed by six weeks because of the insurgency by Boko Haram militants.

Justine Bieber Sued for Allegedly Smacking Limo Driver

Justin Bieber has been sued by a limo driver who claims Bieber smacked him in the head 6 times because the guy wouldn't crank up the volume on the radio but the driver has a problem, and its all about race.

Abdul Mohar wants $850K from the Biebs for the December, 2013 incident in Toronto according to the Toronto Star.  Bieber and his gang were in the back of the limo when the driver claims he was repeatedly struck.

Bieber was criminally charged with the incident.  You may recall the insane scene when Bieber turned himself in.  Ultimately prosecutors dropped the case because they were pretty sure they couldn't get a conviction.

Here's Mr. Mohar's problem when he called 911 he reportedly told the dispatcher his assailant was black.   When cops arrived the driver changed his tune, saying the smacker "looked like a Justine Bieber kind of guy."

Germanwings crash co-pilot Lubitz 'made prediction

The Germanwings co-pilot thought to have deliberately crashed his Airbus in the French Alps, killing 150 people, predicted "one day everyone will know my name", his ex-girlfriend says.

In an interview with Germany's Bild newspaper, she recalled a comment Andreas Lubitz made last year.

Nigeria Decides Today - Nigeria 2015 Presidential and National Assembly Elections

Nigerians are going to the polls to elect a president, with incumbent Goodluck Jonathan facing a strong challenge from Muhammadu Buhari.

It is said to be the most closely fought election since independence.

The election was delayed by six weeks to allow the army to recapture territory from militant Islamist group Boko Haram.

The two main presidential candidates have pledged to prevent violence during the election and its aftermath.

Despite reports of delays in some areas, election body spokesman Kayode Idowu told the AFP news agency that polling stations have opened and that "accreditation has started".

Voters need to register first using biometric cards with their fingerprints before they can cast their vote later.

At some polling stations, card readers appear to be working slowly or not at all, BBC reporters on the ground say.

President Jonathan himself needed more than 20 minutes to register in his home village of Otuoke, although his spokesman says his accreditation is now complete.

Some polling stations opened late and as the BBC's Will Ross reports from the capital Abuja, long queues are forming outside the stations because of problems with the card readers.

Voters will have to be patient and are likely to spend all day to be able to cast their vote, he says.

A polling station in Enugu state in south-eastern Nigeria was hit by an explosion, Nigeria's privately-owned Channels Television reports, without giving any further details.

"Sopranos" star Drea De Matteo was among those who lost their apartment in Thursday's dramatic building explosion in the East Village area of New York City.  

De Matteo posted a pair of photos from across the street as firefighters worked to put out the blaze. She wrote, "A hole where my NYC home of the last 22 years once stood NYC's finest trying to put out the flames to mine n many others apartments." 

The explosion happened around 3:17 PM ET and the resulting fire tore through several buildings, a mix of residential and commercial properties. The cause of the explosion is said to be "gas-related."Officials say at least 19 people were injured, at least four critically.

Germanwings co-pilot was depressed

He left no suicide note behind. But when police raided the home of Andreas Lubitz, the co-pilot accused of purposely crashing Germanwings Flight 9525 into the French Alps on Tuesday, the officers did find evidence that he suffered from a mental illness, which may have led him to take the lives of 149 passengers and crew along with his own life.

Papers found at his home “support the current preliminary assessment that the deceased hid his illness from his employer and colleagues,” German prosecutor Ralf Herrenbrueck said in a statement on Friday, adding that the evidence included sick notes for the day of the crash that had been torn up. Seized medical documents also suggest “an existing illness and appropriate medical treatment,” said the prosecutor from the German city of Düsseldorf, where Lubitz reportedly had an apartment.
