The term "water" means a lot of
things to so many individuals; the legendary Fela kuti must have thought of the
many usefulness of water when he sang, “water no get enemy".
Water is a universal solvent; the most stable
compound in creation-and it's the single most important compound for the
support of life.
Water is absolutely essential for survivor of
every living organism and as humans; water plays a part in almost every bodily
function-from breathing to thinking etc. As a matter of fact, one can survive
many weeks without food but can only survive a few days without water.
Below is some of the importance of water to our
body:
- We need water to transport
nutrients throughout the body via the bloodstream
- Water stabilises and cools our
body in order to maintain proper body temperature.
- It hydrate our skin from the
inside giving us that radiant and flawless skin ever
- It takes toxins out of our body
- It helps keep the colon clean.
When we keep our body hydrated, it keeps it clean and waste moving through
it.
- It dissolves mineral build up
in the body, helping to eliminate diseases.
It is no longer news that 70% of our body is
composed of water because it is part of every cell. However our bodies lose
about four to six pints of water during our daily activities i.e we lose water
when we breathe, urinate and when we sweat; therefore it's important for us to
replace this lost fluid.
We can supplement our water intake by eating
raw fruits and vegetables since fruits contains about 80% of water while
vegetables contains slightly less.
It is worthy of note that cooked food do not
contain the water we need usually our bodies have to add liquid to cooked food
to make it more digestible.
In conclusion, keep your body hydrated
throughout the day by sipping water and live juices as gradual and steady
ingestion of fluids and nutrients is the optimum way to heal and feed your
cells-in return your body will thank you for it.
